The Workshop Foundation was established by designer and maker Graham Russell in 2025 as a place to nurture and preserve the process of thinking through making, empowering designers and students to explore material possibilities beyond the screen.

Graham's 40 year career in design has been driven by a passion for the techniques and processes of making.

Having studied furniture and product design at Kingston School of Art, he went on to work and run workshops for designers including Tom Dixon and Brinkworth, and for major brands like Habitat. 

He has designed and created furniture and retail interiors for Vivienne Westwood for over 30 years, starting with the designer’s original flagship on Conduit Street in London.

He has created interiors, furniture and prototypes for JW Anderson, Burberry, Sunspel, Tate Galleries, Rapha and many others.

Graham brings a practical, highly considered approach to his work. When not in his south London workshop, he can often be found installing hand-made pieces in his clients’ shops and spaces – having, more often than not, driven the pieces cross-country himself.
